I went to the children’s literature festival this year (2023) and met Dusti Bowling. The amazing author of some of the best books, including my favorite- The Canyon’s Edge!

Inspiration

I am a young author and am fascinated at some of the ways more experienced authors write; particularly Dusti. She makes it feel as though I’m Nora, from The Canyon’s Edge, and I’m stuck in a slot canyon, all alone, trying to survive.

Dusti’s Influence

When I write, I try SO hard to make it feel as though I’m in my books, taking on the challenges with my fellow characters. Using the feeling that Dusti gave me in her books, in mine.

Author Questions

If I could sit down with Dusti Bowling these are some of the things I would ask her:

1. How do you decide all of your characters possible names, and personalities? It’s so hard to find the perfect match!
2. What’s a story or plot you’ve always wanted to write about, but it didn’t work out?
3. When do you know that an idea for story, is one you want to write?
4. How do you think up the titles for your books?
5. What technique do you use to plan out your stories?
